Spam Blocking

We use www.spamhaus.org RBL (Realtime Blackhole List) to block prolific spammers, and www.ordb.org to block mail from open relays.

This blocks huge amounts of spam whilst keeping false positives to almost zero. The sender is informed if the mail is rejected so mail is not just dropped into the bit bucket. The recipient is not informed of dropped mail.

A granular approach to spam filtering is available on a per mailbox basis, from your webmail interface :-

  1. Logon to your webmail interface
  2. Go to the 'Settings' (the cogs in the left column)
  3. Go to 'Filtering' > 'Content Filtering'
  4. Click 'New'
  5. Tick 'From Specific Addresses', and click 'Next'
  6. Enter the email addresses to block, one per line, in the box, and click 'Next'
  7. Enter a name in the top box (so that you can identify this set of blocked addresses from any others), and tick 'Bounce Message'
  8. Click 'Save'
